Help understanding numbers - Diabetes Message Board

I had a physical in April and glucose was 108, but Triglycerides were thru the roof! Trig 524, TC 272 Doc put me on Tricor for the triglycerides.

I went back the middle of August. Glucose came back 115 this time. Triglycerides are down to 330, TC 200

I'm testing blood glucose at home several times and the levels I'm getting are usually 1-2 hours after eating and the numbers are running in the 91-102 range. That doesn't make sense to me!

I know I need to lose a good deal of weight and I have to find a way to lower stress (yeah, much easier said than done!)

Can anyone help me make sense of this and not feel so out of sorts about it all?

Looks like Tricor is working and since "prediabetes" is defined as 100-125 you need to try to loose weight and exercise to prevent those glucose numbers from going up. Type 2Diabetes is progressive. You dont just wake up with it. As we age, gain weight, and become less active, we help it along. Getting active will also help your triglycerides.

Have you had a Hgbaic drawn? Hgbaic will suggest how well on average your blood sugar has been controlled over a approx. 2 mth period.Some Dr.s look at this more closely than individual glucose readings.

Do you keep a blood glucose diary? Do you see any trends?
