sweet sickening taste in throat
This may be a off topic for this forum but I posted on another & didn't get an answer. I understand this does happen sometimes with diabetics.
I had strep throat & viral inf about 3 weeks ago. My taste immediately became distorted. I didn't loose my taste but things tasted salty at first now I'm having this nauseatingly sweet taste in my throat after eating anything sweet. I'm not eating any sugar but sweet veggies like sw potatoes, orange, things I wouldn't image leaves this taste all night & day. I went for a day or 2 without it & now it's back. The worst part is I can't use a throat lozenge or piece of peppermint candy to help mask the taste. They make it worse so I have to lay awake all night trying to swallow it.
My PCP is useless. I have an app't with ENT but can't see him until after Christmas. My hypoglycemia has kicked in now because I can't eat enough to keep my glucose level up. Someone told me it was a neurological problem but since mine started with strep throat I'm hoping it is related to taste buds being inflamed or something.
Anyone had this? I find info where people have it for months but haven't found anything to do for it. I'm calling off Christmas dinner at my house because I can't stand to cook. Thanks.
