Can you see ketones in urine?

I was at the hospital because my mother went into DKA and i looked at her urine sample and it had white particles floating in it. Were these the ketones or something else? She was also given potassium pills and sodium chloride through an iv drip. Could these have been mineral deposits? What other possibilities? Thanks. The doctor also said she was going through kidney failure but her kidneys are functioning better now.

Re: Can you see ketones in urine?

No, you can't see ketones. It could have been protein that you were seeing in the urine. Protein excretion occurs with kidney problems and some infections.

Hope this helps.
