The usual lifestyle recommendations for type 2 diabetes are:
* If you have excess body fat, lose it.
* Increase exercise. (If your broken foot has you in a wheelchair, use a manual wheelchair instead of a power wheelchair.)
* Choose carbohydrates carefully. Avoid high glycemic carbohydrates, which are typically sugars and refined carbohydrates. Choose instead low glycemic carbohydrates, which are typically fibrous vegetables, beans / lentils, some whole fruits, and some whole grains.
