Hi, someone from another board suggested I posted in the wrong place....Today I had a weird thing happen. I was working, on the computer, and my arms got a strange feeling, they felt kind of weak...I then started to feel them get shaky. It did make me a little nervous, so that didnt help matters....My heart started pounding as well, and I just told myself to relax...my husband got me a cookie and a glass of juice and the whole thing lasted 10 minutes. I also just had surgery 3 weeks ago, had just one ovary removed, a fallopian tube, and endo cauterized off my bowel, etc. I got my period about 3 hours after the shaking episode as well. Im wondering what happened, was it low blood sugar? I have no history of low or high blood sugar. My pre surgical blood tests were all normal ( dont know if they checked blood sugar?) I ate breakfast at 7:30 am, had almonds as a snack around 10, and the problem happened at 10:30, so I was not empty.
Im thinking it was either blood sugar, anxiety or hormones. ANy ideas? If it happens again I will go to my Dr. I just dont want to run for a one time thing. Weird things can happen to all of us! Im also prone to being anxious at times...but this has never happened!
Thanks for any advice
Kelly

Reason: left something out
Welcome. Unfortunately, you can't always tell what your sugar is by how you feel. You need to check when you feel shakey. You are right, it could be a hormone issue, or just body adjustments post surgery. Can you get access to a glucose meter? Maybe a family member or friend who has one that can loan you a spare? If it continues you should see your doc (of course) but it might be helpful if you can check it at home to see what is going on.

If you borrow a glucose meter, make sure you use a new needle.
Thanks everyone, I do not know anyone with a glucose meter, so I guess if it happens again I will have to just go see my Dr.
Does anyone know what the funny arm feeling was...my friend says thats a sign of a panic attack, having weak arms and trembling...so if anyone has experienced the weak arms, Id love to know!
Thanks again
I am hypoglycemic but not diabetic. Usually you can tell if it may be low blood sugar if you feel much better after you've had some food.
Symptoms can vary per each person, but usually it's the shakiness, weakness, sometimes irritability and confusion.
For me it's really a terrible feeling, sshakey and weak and I need to get some food ASAP. I usually feel better after high protein foods such as peanut butter toast and milk. If you are hypoglycemic, it is important to eat a little protein with each meal and snack (lean meats, nuts, low-fat cheese etc.)
