I am a diabetic and am losing weight very quickly, what could be causing this?

I am a diabetic who is insulin dependant and, have been losing weight very quickly over the last 4 - 6 months. I have gone from appx. 135 to 104lbs. I am eating, yet I am still losing weight...I have gotten to the point that I have no energy, I feel weak all the time...most days it is a huge task just getting up in the morning and moving around is most of the time, hard for me.I am only 5' 3

This could be many things. The obvious question is what is your glucose level? Not taking enough insulin will cause you to lose weight rapidly (it's one of the signs of undiagnosed diabetes) because the glucose cannot get in the cells of your body.

Basically, you should see a doctor about this.

You mention how much weight you've lost but not what your bG levels are. This is key. If your bG levels are running high pretty much all the time, then this means trouble. Consult your physician at once. Whether the weight loss is related to your diabetes or not, extreme weight loss like you're experiencing is something to be concerned about.

Do you have type 1 or type 2?
