Re: blood sugar usually at 130 to 150 in the morning

Above 125 mg/dl after an overnight fast is still in the diabetic range.

You may want to continue ramping up exercise (keep increasing the distance and/or speed of your walking, or work up to higher intensity exercise). Also, if you have any excess body fat (typically if your waistline at navel level is more than half your height), try to lose it.

Although not everyone will be able to completely control blood sugar levels with increased exercise and loss of excess body fat, doing so may allow using less drugs if it becomes necessary to use drugs.

Re: blood sugar usually at 130 to 150 in the morning

When you say "after dinner"...exactly how long after dinner are you testing (to get the results of 135-150)? To test post-prandials (after meal test), you should test at the two-hour mark after you BEGIN eating. That is when blood sugar typically peaks for a diabetic, and post-prandial testing is the only way to determine exactly how various foods/meals affect your blood glucose. I'm thinking that maybe your morning blood sugar levels may be too high because they were too high after dinner...when you go to bed, the body is the most inactive of the entire day so you don't use up the glucose from dinner as easily as you might use up the glucose from breakfast or lunch.

Re: blood sugar usually at 130 to 150 in the morning

With fasting glucose in the diabetic range, it would be a good idea to get an A1c test to tell you what your average level has been over the last several months. My fasting level was similar to yours, but after a few months of lower carbs and more exercise, mine is now running around 110-115. What I try to do is get some exercise after a heavier meal to bring down a high number.
