Diabetes type 2 medication

i was diagnosed 4 years ago. My fasting blood glucose climbed to 190 mg/dl and HbA1C 7.9 while taking metformin and Januvia. My doctor started to talk insulin. I consulted an endocrinologist in Singapore, he added diamicron to my meds. Fasting blood glucose dropped to 80 mg/dl after 2 weeks, with HbA1C of 5.7 after 2 months.

Re: Diabetes type 2 medication

That's really good news for it to work that fast. I don't believe it is sold here in the US. I think our equivalent might be Glipizide, which is similar.

Best of wishes...JJ....

Hi:

Gliclazide is an oral hypoglycemic (anti-diabetic drug) and is classified as a sulfonylurea. It is marketed as Glyloc and Reclide in India and Diamicron in Canada. In the Philippines, it is marketed as Glubitor-OD. It is not marketed in the United States. A modified-release formulation is also marketed.

Sorry that this is not available in the USA. Anyway best is to consult with an endocrinologist who specialises in diabetes.

Mike

Re: Diabetes type 2 medication

That is exactly what Glyipize is here...a sulfonylurea. My husband takes it along with Metformin.

Re: Diabetes type 2 medication

Gliclazide and Glyipize are not the same thing...just the same family.

I'm taking Janumet plus Diamicron - seems to do a good job. I'm thankful that I have found what I consider a good doctor.

I know they are not the same thing as I said, it isn't sold here in the US, but they are in the same family. The Metformin and Glyipize has kept hubby's Diabetes in very good control.

Good luck...JJ..
