Last September when I went in for my physical my blood test came back at 135 so he sent me in for an A1C which came back as 6.0 He told me I was pre diabetic but I can control it with diet. Last December I went back for another A1C test and it came back as 5.9 which was great. Since then I have revamped my diet (ate a lot of processed foods and fast food). Exercise never was an issue for me as I walk daily and I have lost about 10 pounds since then too. I have since bought a home monitor kit and check my sugar on and off. About a week ago in the am (before breakfast) it was 95. I tested it again this afternoon (after lunch - chineese food I'm afraid) and it was 139. The information I've been getting from websites considers this to be in the normal range. Is this true?
I guess what I am really asking is what is the normal am range and pm range? Some say am read should be 90-125 and pm no more than 189.
Thank you Cora for replying. At least I know now that I can't have anymore chineese food. I'm pretty good about what I eat now and it sounds like I'm fairly close to be in the normal ranges.
It is amazing how much sugar they put in sauces at Chinese restaurants...you can just taste the sugar. It really does not need to be that sweet to be good!
