Why didn't the diabetes show up on my niece's blood test?
My niece just got her lab results, she has been feeling dizzy and has been losing weight for the past few weeks and the message recording said she possibly has diabetes because of her liver ALT results but she took a blood test at the doctor and they said she didn't have diabetes. Though it wasn't a fasting glucose test. Could the blood test she took be wrong? Would a fasting glucose test be more accurate? I know it didn't say she did for sure have diabetes but still a possiblity.

Fasting glucose levels are often the last to go. The most important one to check is 2 hours after a meal. This will indicate how well your body handles food. So it is possible that your niece has diabetes or is at least in the early stages.
