Diabetic and nitrious oxide for dental work

Am terrified of the dentist. I know he has laughing gas available.
I am thinking of asking for it this time as every time I go I am so stressed and my BS goes out of control from for a while...besides that I forget to breathe while in the chair and my shoulders are so tense and I am in agony for a few days with muscle pain.

Do you think it is OK to ask for the gas being an insulin dependant diabetic.

I am streesed already and the appt isn't for 2 weeks...

Re: Diabetic and nitrious oxide for dental work

I don't have an answer to your question, but I do have a suggestion for the anxiety. Some dentists will prescribe a valium to take before any procedures/work are done to help with the anxiety. I would mention that your blood pressure spikes whenever you are in the chair and that you are on meds for it as well as t1 diabetic. The dentist will know what you can or cannot have, so be sure to call well in advance.
