The industry standard for meter accuracy is plus or minus 20%. That said, each individual meter is different. I take my meter with me to the lab and I know that it is typically 4% above the lab value at most. I am happy with it. The only way to know for sure how accurate your particular meter is, is to take it with you to the lab. In the meantime, if you are using it to help diagnose yourself, it will give good ball park results.
