Please Answer!

My Dad got really angry last night in his work and when he got home he went to the bathroom alot. After an 8 hour fast, I checked his blood glucose with Accu-chek and it was about 120 mg/dl. Online, it said that it is 'impaired fasting glucose'. Is this definitive or could it be transient because of the emotional trauma of last night??

Re: Please Answer!

The 120 is slightly elevated but could also be due to meter error. If you don't have a glucose impairment, getting upset should not raise your blood sugar. To get a definitive answer you need to see a doctor and get proper testing done (fasting glucose and an a1c test).

Re: Please Answer!

I agree. A reading of 120 is not that bad. More importantly, what is his a1c reading, and what was last testing date. Is he seeing his MD on a quartley basis?
