Metformin and minor lip swelling
I started on 250mg of Metformin yesterday and today with dinner. I noticed that my lip feels slightly swollen. Not were it's uncomfortable just that it feels kinda numb. Is this a normal side effect until your body gets used to this drug?

Does your lip feel numb all the time, or just at certain times? I'm thinking that maybe, possibly, your blood sugar is going too low...that can be one of the signs. Of course, if you test when you're feeling that way and your blood sugar is normal (that is, 80 or above), then not sure what else it could be.

Thanks, SamQ! Actually, I'm going today to get my glucometer and testing strips so we'll see. I just wanted to find out if it was one of those allergic reactions that I should be worried about. I need to get up to 500 mg and I was concerned that if my lip swells or is numb from just 250 mg, would it get worse?

What happened with your lip swelling?!??! Did it turn out to be a big problem?!? I just started Metformin 2 days ago, and my lips & face are swollen... should I be worried?!!?
