Re: Starting Metformon what can I expect

That is the dose I take and found out to make sure I take it at dinner just before I sit down to eat. I tried it in the a.m. on an empty stomach and it raised havoc with my tummy. Since switching the time I take it so far..rap on wood, have had NO problems.

Good luck...JJ...

You say you eat well, but how much carbohydrate do you eat? If you can cut back, that will also help your glucose levels. It may take several weeks for the metformin to kick in as well. Feel free to ask lots of questions - we've got some well informed folks on this board.

Re: Starting Metformon what can I expect

I eat about 15 to 20 carbs a meal. I think that that is good for me because i really feel the need for them for energy. I get alot of them from veggies and highfiber whole grain bread. I do have a treat too sometimes and that is an ice cream on a stick that has 15 carbs and 10 sugars. I try to only have it after a meal of very little carbs so I plan ahead but it dont always work out that way because sometimes my cravings for it overpowers me, lol..hey i'm still learing but I cant let my learning curve be too long less I stay in the same ole going no where boat.
Today I did have a double hamburger with onions only and a few fries from Mcdonalds and a few hours later i was at 86 and feeling hungry...I ate a better meal of dream fields and italin sausage and a slice of bread and was hungry an hour later like i never even ate so am having so turkey deli mean, cheese and cottage cheese...it's always a learning curve, ughhh...thanks for your reply!
