Question Iron Infusion

Has anyone ever had Feraheme iv infusion for chronic kidney disease caused by diabetes? I have read horror stories on the internet about bad reactions to it. I am due for my first infusion next week for low iron because my kidney function is compromised.

Re: Iron Infusion

I've had Venofer (I believe that's the brand name) on many occasions and have had no problems. I believe the older stuff they used to use had problems, but the new stuff is much better. I've never had a reaction. I'm going again next week.

Re: Iron Infusion

Thanks for replying to my question. I am due to have Feraheme infusion next week with another infusion to follow 7 days later. Does your infusions make you feel better? I haven't noticed any effects of the low iron as yet. I really didn't think I was that low, but my hematologist says I need it.

Re: Iron Infusion

It takes a while for the iron to be used to make new hemoglobin, so the differences are not immediate. But you do get better after a few weeks.
