Unhappy pre-diabetes

My doctor told me that my sugar number reading indicated i could be prediabetic.I think she said it was in 120 range, when i was tested later in the day.My question is,if i stick to a low sugar diet most of the week, would it hurt me if i eat something, that will raise my numbers high once a week? The reason im asking this is,that i go out to eat at a chinese buffet, and im hoping i won't have to give it up totally. Also could you tell me what is a normal acceptable blood sugar level after eating?I would appreciate any replies.Thank you.

Re: pre-diabetes

Your fasting should be less than 100, and 2 hours after a meal should be less than 140. Beware Chinese buffets! They are loaded with sugar and high carb foods. If you do it once in a while it's not a bad thing, but too often will push you up a lot of you have pre-diabetes.
