| | Diabetes and Me
I have been on many different type 2 diabetes medications with different results. Currently I inject Victoza with good results. I had better results with
other meds, but some of them made me desperately hungry and that defeated the good effects. Victoza works better for me because it doesn't increase my appetite. Keeping that A1C down is quite the challenge in our society in America where every single thing is high in carbs and sugar.
When I was in for disk surgery on my back in January, they had me on strong IV anti-biotics. That caused my blood sugar to read above 400 until they dropped the antibiotics. My doctor and the nurses were quite concerned.
One thing that I have noticed is that hospitals check patients blood sugar with ancient blood glucose meters. My fingers took days to heal from their deep needle jabs. I check my blood sugar 3 to 4 times a day. One snack that helps me control my sugar is those low calorie rice cakes. Apple/cinnamon. Good luck staying away from candy machines!
