Hand and leg pain

Hi, I'm a type 2 diabetic.I was diagnosed about 3 yrs ago...About a month ago I woke 1 morning and my hand was swollen and it was very painful.I went to my doc who took alot of blood tests but was and IS stumped as to why it happened. It only lasted a few days and I was back to normal. Has any one any ideas.
Also I am constantly getting a pain in my knee and it is making it difficult to walk...
Are these connected with diabetes or are they seperate problems

It sounds to me (although I'm not a doc) that it is not related to the diabetes. Maybe a spinal nerve problem or a circulatory problem in your hand/arm? Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks. I do have arthrites in my neck and shoulder, so maybe there is a problem with a nerve aswell..
