Although I don't expect anyone to tell me right away that a certain brand is either accurate or inaccurate - for fear of being accused of launching a commercial advertising campaign for or against a certain product- Nevertheless I will give it a try – Is my Accu-chek performa accurate?
Seems like most people find different ones more accurate. I've heard good and bad about almost all of them. They all claim to be within a 20% margin. Best way to tell how accurate your meter is...take it to the lab next time you have bloodwork and test it against the reading of the lab. Tell your Dr. to please request they put your fasting glucose reading on the form as many times they don't. Make sure it is a fasting lab work so you will know cause an A1C test they don't give you the reading as it is a random test.
I need to check mine out next time as I am getting all sorts of wacky readings. I have a Bayer Contour, 4 years old.
Good luck and hope this helps...JJ.....
