Some people don't like the pump. Personally, I don't get that as I loved mine. You can be as successful as you want. All it really requires is hard work. As for "fitting" a pump, that's not a good description. You are given one (not sure where you are and how easy it is to get one) and together with your doctor and trainer make the adjustments on how the insulin is delivered. I would find out what pumps are available in your area by calling your local diabetes association and then checking out the manufacturers website. They give very good information about pumps.
