Question Jolly Time Popcorn

Jolly Time is alleging that they now have a TransFat Free Popcorn. How can this be, when the label on the box still has the ingredient Partially Hydrogenated? Am I missing something?

Re: Jolly Time Popcorn

Most companies have toll-free numers on their labels...call them and make them explain.

The same same thing goes for all of those margarines that claim to have no-trans fat. I guess it must be a marketing "technicality". Legalease!!!

Re: Jolly Time Popcorn

Can't Companies get in trouble for this? This seems like it's begging for a lawsuit.

Re: Jolly Time Popcorn

As was already mentioned, there must be come legal loop-hole in terms of how they can label.

Re: Jolly Time Popcorn

Ran into this topic elsewhere:

The FDA allows trans fats [or anything else, for that matter] that amount to less than 0.5 gram per serving to be listed as as 0 trans fats on the Nutrition Facts panel. According to the USDA Web site, consumers may see a few products that list 0 grams trans fat on the label, while the ingredient list will have shortening, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil or hydrogenated vegetable oil on it. This means the food contains very small amounts of trans fat per serving.

I knew that business about being able to round down .5 to 0, but I thought in such cases they could not label the product as "trans fat [or whatever] free". Evidently they can.
