Beans, beans they're good for the heart...

A little bit off color question...

I like beans, and they are a great source of protien, but the day after eating them, i have gas the entire day. from morning to night. Its uncomfortable and embarassing, as its pretty smelly gas.

Anyone know a way to get around this shortfall of beans? I have tried beano, and it didnt seem to work well for me.

Exile,

Try getting a good flora established inside your colon. Something like kefir a couple times a week. It's a fermented milk product like a VERYcomplex liquid yoghurt- quite delicious. Try a quart at your health food store and see if you like it!

If you chew your beans more, you'll have less gas. The more you chew, the less your digestive system has to work on them, the less gas you have... This won't prevent gas completely, but at least it will leave you with less.

Hello, Yes exercise will help a lot; however, it needs to be aerobic. You'll know when you have found the right exercise...I expell a lot of gass just doing simple kickboxing exercises. My mother-in-law was told to exercise for her GERD by her doctor. He told her to go take a slightly vigorous 10 min. walk after every meal to keep from getting gassy.
