It is near impossible to look at one food and say whether or not it is healthy or will hinder weight loss, etc. You need to look at the entire eating plan.
That said . . . if it is the kind of oatmeal you put in the microwave (that is, instant), it is a very refined product and best avoided. It does not take all that long to cook up the rolled oats.
Now, we are all different, but if I don't have a good portion of protein for breakfast, I am hungry all day. But, the important thing is what works for you!
