i'm vegan and healthy and know dozens of others like me. it's not a struggle at all to have nutrition needs met, and it's especially easy if you've already been vegetarian to have a really exciting, varied, delicious and healthy diet.
just substituting the eggs/dairy/etc is really easy with all the products out there. i was really surprised at how easy the switch was for me and it's been 3 years and i haven't looked back.
when i went vegan i lost about 100 pounds. i was 255, now i'm 155 (a healthy weight for me at 5'9) and maintaining it easily. i feel a world of difference health wise and totally recommend it.
