Talking Soy Milk

For about 2 weeks now I've been starting my day with a small bowl of either Complete Bran Flakes or Special K almond vanilla cereal and Low fat Vanilla Soy Milk, it tastes really good!! And I just wanted to know if there is any reason this isn't good for me. Is soy milk healthier for you than regular milk? I'm trying to lose weight and be healthy, so if anyone knows any info on this it'd be appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing too. I drink at least a cup of soy or rice milk everyday. You should try rice milk - its DIVINE!!

There are differing opinions about whether or not it is a good idea to eat various forms of soy and how much. If you google it, you will come up with all kinds of debate. It's one of those things you just have to make up your down mind about.

I wouldn't say soya is bad for you unless you have hormone problems as it contains estrogen (or encourages estrogen production not entirely sure which one it is) The thing you should look out for is the sugar level in the vanilla one (I don't know if it's natural or added sugar) go for un-sweetened if possible (although it's taste is vile!!) Try and get a non-gm organic kind as this is sooo much better for you.

Unless you're vegan I would suggest making sure you incorporate both the soy milk and 1-2% real milk into your diet. Real milk probably has more nautral calcium, and I'd buy soy milk that has calcium added to it (I'm not sure what the difference in calcium amount between the two is), because women need a lot more calcium than they take in. I agree, vanilla soy milk is SO good, especailly in cereal. I don't think one or the other is necessarily better for you, just make sure you're getting enough calcium.
