i know for example a raw carrot is catebolic. that is, by the time you finish fully digesting it your body Lost calories. so if you snacked on only carrots . versus not stacking. you'de actually burn more calories.
the body can adjust its metabolism though. so its possible to eat more net calories one week and loose weight. and then eat less net calories the next week and gain weight.
i'de recomdned (guessing) just to eat low calorie snacks or negative calorie snacks..
