I don't know if you guys can help but I'll ask anyway.
I recently bought a bunch of papayas. Never did before since they are not common in my area. Anyway, they looked fine with a bit of marks from the outside but internally they had a real bad odour and strange nearly tasteless taste. They were (at least seemingly) rip (not overripe).
Anyone encountered this phenomenon? If so any idea what's the cause? I bought orgincally grown papayas yet they apparently didn't seem to be infected with some kind disease and such. I couldn't find any info on the internet concerning this as well.
