Ground flax seed or oil?

Iv'e been drinking Pat Robertson's age - defying shake for about 2 weeks now. It calls for 1TBSP of flax seed oil. My question is, what is the health difference between the ground flax seed and the oil? Do you get the same benifits or is one better than the other?

From what I read flaxseeds are better because they contain a good source of fiber, and fiber is great for making one feel fuller. In additon, flaxseeds are on of the best sources of the omega 3 fat ALA. The oil doesn't contain the fiber. Flaxseeds are really cheap too, you can buy a pound for like 1.30 a pound or something like that. I buy mine at Whole Foods health store and it lasts me a while. Whole flaxseeds need to be grinded up before use, a coffee grinder does the job. BTW, I'm a 700 Club member too.

hey jess.. besides putting some in my yogurts, where else can i sprinkle some.. ..

3 T of ground flax seed = 1 T flax oil. Flax seeds will give you 8 grams of fiber and is also higher in lignans than the oil. Make sure you are using the flax seeds and not the flax meal. You can add the flax seed to your shakes instead of the oil.
