| Just curious about how much omega 3's are in tuna?
Hi, 
I eat tuna about 2x a week and was wondering how much omega 3's are in a can because I may not take my fish oil those days, thanks.

I can't come up with the exact figure right away, but I would take the fish oil. Now, if you eat salmon, skip the fish oil, maybe.

Figure a little less than 400 mg. in a can of water packed light tuna. Not really enough for a full day's needs.

Good thing I saved the July, 2003 issue of Consumer Reports, which lists the omega-3 content of several different fish.
Tuna, water-canned, light (200mg)
Tuna, oil-canned, light (100mg)
Tuna, water-canned, white* (700mg)
Tuna, bluefin * (1300mg)
* May be high in mercury

On the other hand....
A can of pink salmon contains 1400mg omega-3.
A can of sardines in oil provides 800mg omega-3.

USDA is kinder to the chunk-light water pack and gives it a rating of 460 mg. n-3 oils.
