Should I be eating more?

I've had issues with Eating Disorders for years. Going back and forth between too much and not enough.

But right now I'm trying really hard to eat in between the two....where I should be. I generally try to eat the recommended amount of fat and calories etc... on the nutrition guides on the stuff I buy.

I'm 20 years old. I run an express photo lab which is very demanding alot of times. Esp. since CVS doesn't staff its stores very well at all (I'm from the Eckerd side, and yeah Eckerds was bad towards the end there, but CVS is worse) and so I'm left running back and forth all day long doing 4 people's jobs and I'm standing alot...it's physically demanding to a point.

I also try to work out 3 times a week. Usually 30-45 minutes of average stuff.

So I'm just wondering if I should be eating more than the recommended amount since I use alot of physical energy at work and work out!?! I didn't have a very good model for this growing up and I'm just trying to get this somewhat right before I do even more damage.

SaintAnger,

By "Going back and forth between too much and not enough," I take it you DON;T mean to say BINGE AND PURGE behavior? That's usually a hard nut to crack and pften calls for professional help.

The way to determine if you are eating enough is to look at your weight over time. If it's steady and at a point where you like it and it's a reasonably healthy weight, neither fat nor wraith-thin, then you are consuming the right amount of food.
You might want to tabulate your calories for a week or two and store the info somewhere in case you run into trouble when you're 40.

If however, you've been slowly gaining over the last couple years, then you might be eating too much and want to cut back.
Vice versa if you've been losing more weight than you like!
