I have read about people who eat a huge amount of carrots developing a slight orange hue - but I think you have to eat pretty much nothing but carrots for every meal for this to happen!!
Also, regarding the dyes. They're pretty unhealhty to consume; they've been idenified as causes of such things as migraines and childhood ADD amongst other things.
I think that adding dye to food to change the color is the most insidious activity by the food industry.
