MistyCatt,
ALL rice is gluten-free. I have heard that some manufacturers put a flour coating on the rice to keep it from sticking before the user can cook it, and some people always RINSE their rice in a sieve before they cook it. Basmati Rice is treasured because of its wonderful flavor, but isn't any more nuitritionally-rich or gluten-free than any other white rice. And brown rice (including Basmati Rice) is simply rice with the hull still on, so that there are more vitamins and minerals and fiber, but still no gluten.
