Unhappy I'm afraid to cook!

Hi,
My husband usually cooks and the stuff that he makes is quite boring.lol I hate cooking, but I want to learn and break this fear. I never really learned how to cook growing up because my mother was single and always brought food from a resturant, or cooked something simple like spagetti etc. Anyways, I want to get creative and cook healthy meals but I don't know where to start. I would be very appreciative if anybody could share some healthy ideas or recipes if you could, step by step. What kind of things should I have(utensils), I have a few, and I bought a cookbook for dummies but I dunno, maybe you guys could give a few words of advice. I'm kind of afraid of cooking, I have no idea why, i'm serious, lol. Thanks alot!

Thanks, I'm gonna look into that!

Re: I'm afraid to cook!

Becoming a good cook requires lots of trial and error. I am nowhere close to Emeril either, but in the past few years I have developed my own style and I am not afraid to try new things. Yes, you will have some disasters, but that is what learning is all about. Buy a few cookbooks and go from there. You will find that pretty soon you will automatically be able to adapt a recipe to your liking.

Good luck! and happy cooking.

P.S. The best investment you can make in cooking is a very good set of pots and pans. Get the best you can afford.

Re: I'm afraid to cook!

You can always try a slow cooker/ crock pot. I can cook but hate to!!! All you have to do is put the food in the pot per the recipe and 4-8 hours later its done.
