I live in Central Canada where we're in the middle of a 3 week heat wave. Everyday for the past 3 weeks it has been 40 degrees with humidity levels of ~70%. I live in an apartment without AC/Central Air, but thank God my office is AC or I think I'd go crazy. I have been craving cool treats since it's been so hot, but don't know of any good healthy ones. I've been getting DQ ice cream cones because I know they're not too bad and have been drinking LOTS of ice water. Any other healthy ideas to help me cool down!???
Well, I don't know of any "recipes" but if I were you, I'd buy some popsicles, and make some iced tea or lemonade. And while your eating the popsicles, you could have the fan blowing on ya!
I've been making homemade iced tea and the whole Crystal Light Lemon-Lime attempt (See posting titled Apartame) was not great. I would love to find a great lemonade. Any suggestions? I'm going grocery shopping tonight and will try to find one. I actually hate popsickles - when I was really sick before they diagnosed me with Addison's disease, while in hospital my meals consisted of 2 popsickles, apple juice, jello, and applesauce. I can't eat any of these foods because I vomited them too much. Last night after soccer I had a big white freeze! That was yummy, but was pure sugar!
tdot, Granita is an Italian type lemonade tasting ice crushed up ice cream..LOL like slush..it comes in a comtainer and, you find it in the ice cream section..when you go shopping for your food..try it, the one i eat is form "Italgelati"..its sooooooooooo good..LOLLL oh and, jess you can try it too.. you will eat it forever
Mmmm, thanks Losec. I am going grocery shopping tonight. I will see if my local Real Canadian Superstore has it stocked. The heat is starting to break here in Eastern Ontario. How about MTL? I spend a lot of time in MTL. I have many friends who live there.
ok check it out, they have several flavours, but take the lemon one..mmm and, try to find the brand 'Italgelati'..mmm its the best..and, its all natural, should be next to the sorbet..yuppers im from montreal and, its very very hot here..but, today its raining and, a litttle cooler but, very humid..LOLLL bye bye..
Thanks, I will definitely check it out. I love lemon-flavor, actually I really like lemons and sometimes eat them by themselves. Yeah it's raining here too. It has cooled down a bit and there is a nice breeze of the St. Lawrence.
