I'm always wanting to have gum in my mouth or I think maybe I just crave the mint flavour. My bf says that I'm addicted to chewing gum, but I really don't have it that much - 3-5 pieces a day. Anyone else like this?
Oh yeah, it's definitely sugar-free. I usually chew Dentyne Ice Peppermint, Arctic Chill or Midnight Mint. I chew it after meals too but sometimes I just get the urge to chew gum. But like I said, maybe it is the minty flavor. I actually can't play soccer without gum in my mouth - I know wierd...but true!
I wouldn't worry about it. You're not going to gain weight on sugar-free chewing gum. It's actually good for you to chew it after meals to increase your saliva, which helps to prevent cavities. The only thing I would watch would be your jaw. As long as you don't have any jaw pain or TMJ, you should be ok.
Thanks Mag. I'm not actually worried about it. I've been like this pretty much all my life and have never had any major problems with weight gain. I don't have any jaw pain either. I am supposed to wear this thing at night though cause I grind my teeth.
I think mint is incredibly addictive. Haven't you noticed how many mint products are sold at checkout counters?? DOZENS AND DOZENS of them. Cinnamon & other flavors can freshen your breath, but mint remains the dominant seller.
I was addicted to spearmint for years. Of course, I had to have the hard candy and I had to crunch it, and no way would I eat anything sugar-free. I ate it in handfuls like popcorn. I finally developed severe dental problems and had to stop, otherwise I'd still be going at it. I can't chew gum because it aggravates my TMJ. But you sound like you're doing OK.
hi tdot, there is nothing wrong with that..i also always have gum in my car.. "Extra sugar free".. maybe you need it becuase you'r a little nervous..
I'm actually the opposite of nervous. Everyone who knows me comments on how calm I am. My best friends always say they love being around me because I'm restful and calm. Maybe it's the gum that does it????
