Re: need info on sugar

Sugar contains empty calories. You do not need table sugar ever. Fruits contain fruitose, and other foods contain natural sugar.

Remember, starch foods convert to glucose in the body.

if there is more than 5 grams of added sugar(not natural) per serving you shouldln't eat it.

Re: need info on sugar

dobetty,
It depends. Sugar is useful only for the production of energy; any excess is converted to glycogen if your liver and muscles are low or FAT if not.

If you have a ttendency towards high blood sugar or you are overweight, the less sugar the better.

Like Marie said, there is no need for sugar, EVER, except for the tiny minority of diabetics who have OD'd on an insulin shot!.
The body can make all it needs from starches, proteins, and even a little from pure fat!

Dextrose is another name for pure glucose.
