Question weight loss centers?

Ok, I have an appointment on Friday at a "weight management center"...It's not Weight Watchers, it's a doctor supervised prescription weight control clinic. Have any of you had success with this...Also please don't blast me, I know many of you are losing weight without prescriptions, but I have tried and failed on that route, and I feel that I need a little extra help.

This clinic carries anything from Merdia to Phentermine, neither of which I know much about. I liked this clinic because they monitor their patients on a weekly basis. I have 100 plus pounds to lose, and blood pressure that I must keep an eye on. Some of the other clinics I called said "YOu pick up your 'pills' and come back in three months"!!! :O this sounded bad!

any info is appreciated...

Mom of 3.....I am not going to blast you, hon. Just wanted to be up front with you. Been there, done that. Many years ago, went to a diet center that gave me prescription "diet" pills and I had soooo much energy and lost all the weight I need and about ten pounds more because I was so excited about the whole thing. First time in my life I was so lean and trim. But, to be honest, I was not myself. I hardly slept because I really didn't need much sleep. My throat was constantly dry and I got a lot of sore throats on the meds. I went from 159 lbs to 116 lbs in a relatively short period of time because I had basically no appetite. I was weaned off the meds over a period of time. My appetite returned over time and not only did I gain every single ounce back...I gained a whole lot more. I have finally decided at the age of 41 (almost 42) that there are no magic cures and no magic lasting pills. I have returned to eating sensibly and exercising and have in my mind that it will take time and energy and effort and it will definitely take longer than the drugs took...but I am focused on doing it alone. There are side effects to EVERY drug and everyone is different and it reacts differently on each one. Just be careful if you do go this route. God Bless

Thumbs up

I understand. Your appraoach is the right one. I will be doing WW123 and taking the meds to help me through the first few months. I am fully aware that the main goal is to lose slowly and keep it off. I unfortunitely have some problems as I am 160 lbs overweight. I need the extra help, and at this point, I feel pretty secure that I am doing the right thing.

THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO!

keep in mind that while their are people who gain the weight back, their are also ones that keep it off

if u change your diet and lose weight, same thing u will probably gain it back if u go back to a crappy diet i think, im just guessing ive never tried either of these,im just mentioned this so mom of 3 wont think pills are worthless

even if the pills make her lose weight temporararely, that could be a good thing, because it might make her realize their is hope and seeing herself at a lighter weight might be enough motivation to keep it off

by the way most or all of those pills do not work by simply decreasing your appetite, they work in other ways too,if your looking for something to decrease your appetite that is not a prescription, their probably are some out their but i dont know them off the top of my head ,u'd have to do some research
