Post thyroid

I have just been put on t4 and t3, I had gained 25lbs in 2 months. I have now been diagnosed as hypothyroid, and the synthroid was not converting to t3 so I have been put on cytomel. I have also gone on the dr. Atkins diet, how long should it take to lose this extra weight?

It really depends on whether you combine the meds with some exercise. If your body needs to channel energy to muscle, it feels like the stuff you're taking is actually there for a reason, and will start working faster. It doesn't have to be all out marathon-training or anything. Just some extra walking time or taking the stairs instead of the escalator/elevator, and using soup cans as "weights" to build muscle! Hope that sort of helps...
