Post pretzels

Are pretzels bad for you? I eat really well all the time and I don't want to have to give them up too. I posted something under a different topic and someone said they aren't good for you.

Oh and how many grams of sugar ar too much in a particular item?

The most likely problem with pretzels is sodium.

They are also high carb (like any kind of grain, bread cracker product) ... however if you are looking at the difference between pretzels and a Snickers bar, the pretzels are infinitely less bad. As long as you use moderation, it's not a particularly bad snack choice.

They are also high in starch which means your body releases more insulin. When the body releases insulin, that makes the body store fat. That is also what you have to be careful for. If you do some research on the internet or in books, you can look up foods that are high on the glycemic level index.

pretzels have relatively low glycemic index, your insulin response to them should not be an issue. Pretzels are a healthy alternative to candy (high fat and sugar) and other high fat snacks. Eat them in good health!
As far as the amount of sugar you should consume at one time... that depends on you. I personally avoid anything that has more than, say 10 g in a serving (ie high sugar cereals, soda, candy bars)

Hey Connie not to be an ******* or anything but pretzels rank an 83 out of 100 on the glycemic level. They say anything over 70 is considered high so I just wanted to let everyone know so they don't get false information. You can still eat them just do it in low moderation and maybe after a workout when you are still burning most calories and stuff.
