Post Totally Confused About Frame Size

You know, it's pretty tough to find an "ideal" weight based on height when you don't know how to accurately measure your frame size.

Some websites say use your thumb and index finger around your wrist and follow the no touch, touch, overlap method.

On the other hand, I've found websites that say use your thumb and middle finger.

If I use my thumb and index I'm large framed, if I use my thumb and middle I'm medium framed.

If I measure the circumference of my wrist with a tape measure, it's approximately 7". That would put me at a large frame.

So, I think I'm large framed, but what's up with the conflicting non-ruler based frame measurements?

A lot of those measurements were calculated back in the '60s. I spent from highschool up to a few years ago thinking I was way overweight.
I am a very muscular 5'8" with 7 1/2" wrists, so 175 lbs. (at a size 13/14 misses) was actually my optimum weight, not the 150 prescribed for 5'8" on a large frame. My sister is the same height as me, but has a medium to large frame, and she looks great at 150 (at a size 9/10). She got down to 130 once and started to look sick and/or anorexic...

Forgot to answer the non-ruler thing...
LOL
I just go by what the tape measure says because while most people's fingers are proportional to their frame, there are not measurements for "tall and skinny" or "short and stout". (This is the same problem I have with the BMI equation.) At least a tape measure is objective...
