Okay new poster here with lots and lots of questions...First, a little info I am 24, about 60 pounds overweight and I need KNEE Surgery...So the surgeron told me that I needed to lose 30 pounds and then she would do the surgery...Surgery is scheduled December 18th and I need to have it off by December 1st for the pre-op stuff...
She then put me on a high protein very low carb diet which consists mostly of protein shakes 4x a day and then maybe a salad with some chicken or tuna with ranch or blue cheese if I am hungry (which I am not by the way)
I exercise about 4x a week not to hard cardio because of my knee but mostly resistance training..I have already lost 6 pounds...But, I don't want this to put me in startvation mode...I mean I am getting about 720 cals a day with about 6 grams of carbs if I just do the shakes a little more with the salad...I also drink about 100 oz of water a day...I take a multi-vitamin and also Mega L-Carnitine once a day...
Has anyone heard of trying to lose weight this way??? I don't want to hurt my body but, I need to have this surgery I have been in constant pain for almost 5 months...She says that she has had a lot of sucess with other patients even one who lost 40 pounds in 6 weeks!!!!!
Hey, I have never tried the shakes so i cant say if that works or not. I have been on a low fat diet and exercising for about 2months now and i have lost 30 lbs. as of last Sunday. Havent weighed this week yet!Talk to your doctor and see if this would be a good idea for you.
DEE DEE 24 THAT IS THE SAME DIET THAT I AM DOING AND I FEEL GREAT THE DOCTOR IS CHECKING MY BLOOD WORK AND I AM GETTING ABOUT 800CALS. A DAY I FEEL GREAT I HAVE LOST ABOUT 20PDS. SO IF YOU FEEL GOOD THEN STAY WITH IT I AM I FEEL GREAT NO LIE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO PUT YOU DOWN NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF DIET YOU DO MY BODY IS NO STARVING I DO HAVE A SALAD FOR DINNER ,OR CHICKEN AND VEGS.AND A SALAD JUST HOW I FEEL I AM DRINKING ABOUT 64OZ.OF WATER A DAY I HAVE 100PDS. Wow thanks for the info dietgirl!!! I though I was the only one on this type of diet and I have got a lot of people who say that it is really bad for you but, you know what...I feel better than I ever have...I exercise harder too....Well, keep me posted on your weight loss and I will do the same...How many shakes do you have a day???? How long did it take you to lose 20 pounds??? As of this morning I have lost 8 in about 3 weeks..Not as good as I had hoped but, in the beginning I cheated A LOT...but, know I am sticking to it shake for shake!!!! I do have a salad every once in a while...
well DEE DEE 24 it took me from oct.3,to oct.9 and loss 14pds. and i am lossing a pound a day the doctor said i was doing great i dont take my fluid pills anymore because the diet is working so good for me and i can have 3pieces of celery a day to and broth chichen and beef that helps to i hope i have help you out and good luck just hang in there and you will do it i will let you know oct.26,i have to go weight in at the doctors office so i will let you know how i am doing we are need a little help now and then bye for now till oct.26 weight in day god bless you p.s.as of today i have loss a total of 20pds. and feel greatttttttttt
