I drank Slim Fast for a few years as a meal supplement. It was a good substitute for a meal and was low calorie. BUT, now I've read some things about aspartame that are disturbing. I would suggest a balanced diet with an emphasis on low carbs, lean proteins, some fruit (not much since they are high in sugar content) and lots of vegies (that aren't considered high in carbs) along with a good exercise plan that includes cardio-vascular and weights. Oh, and drink water on a basis of when your thirsty. Occasional sweet teas or lemonade for a treat for drinks. Please avoid artifical sweetners -- I haven't found one yet where controversy doesn't exist.
