Exclamation Help! I'm allergic to wheat & dairy!

Whats up everyone?

I got a real problem, let me sum it up. For the past year I've had alot of digestive problems and pain. I lost alot of weight (I'm 6'3", 140 lbs.) and I didn't know what the h*ll was wrong with me.

So anyway, finally I went to the Atkins center in NY to get some tests done. Turns out I'm allergic to wheat and yeast and most dairy (especially cheeder cheese ). This is really hard for me, I love pasta, cerial, bread, cookies (though I had been cutting back on sugar since my problems intensified). I also love cheese and am a fan of ice cream as well and of course I like milk in my cerial.

So, I've got to completely revamp my diet. I'm already bought some rice-based pasta and am looking into some rice or corn based cerials. I'm been eating a fair amount of fruits and some chilli (with meat & vegtables). I've also been having alot of nuts but I am sick of them already, nuts are not the most exciting of foods.

So anyway, I appreciate any support, suggestions, food ideas, recipes anyone here has to offer. By the way, I'm also slightly allergic to soy so thats not a viable alternative.

Thanks again!

You say MOST dairy. What dairy are you not allergic to . . . yogurt by chance? Then you might find a frozen yogurt to substitute for ice cream.

My favorite non-wheat pasta are soba noodles, though it can be a little difficult to find the 100 per cent buckwheat kind (Eden puts one out if you can get your HFS to order them). The other non-wheat pastas can get a little mushy - though on another board someone suggested bringing the water to a boil, adding the pasta and monitoring how long it cooks carefully.

For cereals, there is oatmeal, too.

Non-wheat alternatives can get expensive. Can you eat spelt? There are some nice spelt breads available that are not TOO pricey.

Legumes could substitute for some of the grain-based stuff.

Getting rid of wheat and dairy can take some work. But it is really not so bad. And I bet you will feel MUCH better.
