Smile My Fitness/Diet Journal

Okay, I have finally decided that I am gonna lose weight! I have so little willpower that I don't think I can do it without knowing I have to record my progress. So, for my own benefit as well as anyone curious about the life and times of an 18 year old dieter, I am gonna keep this journal and post every day how I did, what I ate, exercises, as well as frustrations and setbacks. I am psyched about this and I plan to start tomorrow.

My info so far...
Current weight: 140
Goal: 120
Pounds to lose: 20
Some of my biggest problem foods are sodas, fast food, and cheese.

If anybody else wants to do the same and log daily progress here, feel totally free. I could use a diet buddy.

Hmm. I've got the same 20 pounds to lose. My 'triggers' are chips, candy, cookies and other junk. (I'm not much of a fast food eater)I've recently decided to set a reasonable goal of a pound a week. That should get me to my goal by spring.

I'm taking a low glycemic approach. No grains, no roots, no sugar. I'm trying to reduce meats and cheeses to the level of 'condiments' to be used to flavor food, rather than as a stand alone. One of my favorites -- home made vegetable soup made with a little chicken and topped with a slice of 2% American Cheese.

I've only started this week, but am already seeing results -- not only on the scale but in my mental attitude. I'm also getting back to the exercise routine, which is hard in winter.

One last thought. I'm trying to treat my triggers in the same way an alcoholic treats booze... with the attitude that one taste will cause me to fall off my wagon (because it does!)

Hi

Do you mind if I ask how tall you are? I'm just curious because I recently gained 13.5 pounds and I'm now about 140.5. I'm 5'7". I wouldn't mind losing at least half of that.

You have made a great decision keeping a diary to write down everything you eat, how much you exercise, etc. You can pinpoint more easily what areas of y**** you need to work on. As far as your problem foods, I had many problem foods. I eliminated one or two per week from my diet till I cut them all out. If you have that food laying around the house, get rid of it. Out of sight, out of mind.
