Soup at Night??

hey guys,
i was wondering if eating soup for dinner is good or not?? or if it's better to eat just protein and vegetables?? also, can someone give me a list of foods NOT to eat at night or in the evening. thanks guys.

There's nothing wrong with soup, really, depending on the soup. If it's a canned variety, it could be fairly high in sodium, which could cause bloating. Lots of sodium over a prolonged period (ie/weeks, months) could lead to high blood pressure. It also depends if the soup is creamy or not, and what it contains. You could get lots of nutrients from a broth-based vegetable soup, or you could get very little from a creamy, cheesy soup. Both are FINE to eat though, in moderation. In regards to being better than protein and veggies, it depends. Ultimately, everything in moderation is healthy. You don't want to overdo one thing and not get enough of another, so switch it up constantly!

For eating at night, it really ultimately doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you are able to control how much you eat of it. If you are the type of person who will eat a bag of chips in front of the tv, then chips aren't a good option. But if you want chips and you are able to eat a handful and stop, then that's fine. However, that beign said, try to pick foods that a nutrient dense rather than just processed or sugary. Fruit, protein, dairy, whole grains, lean meats, healthy fats, veggies...anything goes really..just keep it on the small side (assuming it's a snack and not a meal) and try to make it healthy- but if you absolutely crave something sugary..go for it! It won't kill you providing you don't go overboard with the amount you eat in a sitting, and that you don't eat it day after day..

For evening snacks you might want to try foods with healthy fats or foods that tend to digest more slowly so you won't get hungry again later in the night. Foods like cottage cheese and oatmeal would be a good choice.
