Hello, I would say the down side would be the cost and short shelf life. The good side is that there are no chemicals or pesticides to deal with, they taste better since they are usually "tree ripened," and not irradiated. If you're talking about meat, the meat is usually a lot leaner. I can't wait for summer so we can grow our own organic vegies! My hubby's really good at gardening. The best part is that you can eat the skin of the vegies without that horrible wax. I always peal the store bought apples and cucumbers, because I'm never sure if they wax over the pesticide plus I don't like the texture of the wax. (I'm so spoiled.)Then when summer comes, I'm in a hurry for fall...I love the farmers' apples, because our local farmers don't wax the apples. I'd say you're better off to go "natural" or vegetarian or vegan, and find that you feel better and healthier than before too...I often wonder if someone were to eat too many preservatives, would they decay slower after they're dead and buried? (Just kidding.) Bon apitite!
