Question How's my daily diet?

I know alot of people ask this but I want your opinions aswell to how I should alter my diet. My goal is to lose fat and retain muscle.

Breakfast

Slimfast shake with some watermelon
or two soft boiled eggs and half glass of V8 smoothie (has soy protein)

Lunch

Salad with chicken or ham in it

Snack

Yogurt, Apple, or Melon

Snack

Cottage Cheese, Fruit, Yogurt, or Cheese

Dinner (usually late, but I gotta live with it cause thats when mom cooks it lol)

Chicken or Steak with salad and cottage cheese
or some kinda of meet with noodles/rice, cottage cheese, veggies, or salad. (whatever she puts together)

I do Jazzercise (aerobics/weight training) 3-4 times a week. Walk, Swim, The Firm videos, or Pilates the other 3-4 times a week.

Just to clarify . . . you currently eat this way and have been gaining weight? If so, what are the approximate quantities you are eating?

Looks good. I'd move the high density carbs from your late snack and dinner to your breakfast and lunch though and stick with just the veggies and/or salad with your dinner e.g. a little oatmeal with your breakfast and no noodles or rice for dinner. I'd also ditch the slimfast. Add in a few more EFA's too (Essential fatty acids eg flax seeds/sunflower seeds in your oatmeal).

No I have not been gaining weight..but I'm kinda stuck a plateau and would like to lose another 10-15lbs. So I just wanted to make sure my diet wasn't holding me in one spot. I also drink 2 liters of water a day.

Hello, Here's my 2 cents worth. I'd get rid of the slim fast. (You're already getting the protein in the eggs, meat, and cheese.) I'd also keep the cheese down to once per day with the assumption the cottage cheese is low-fat. You might want to watch the yogurt, because some yogurts contain a lot of sugar and fat which will keep you from getting off that plateau. If you need flavored yogurt and don't want the artifical sweeteners...Then stuff like Gogurt would be ok, since it's only 90 cal. and 2g. fat. Calcium is supposed to help with weight loss, but you still have to watch the sugar and fat content. The exercise program sounds excellent...I'm gathering that you do at least 30 + exercise 7 days per week. You can even up the time to 45-50 min. Since dinner is heavy, you need to keep lunch and breakfast light. You're lunch looks like a nice light lunch. I hope you're not drinking reg. soda, because that stuff is loaded with cals. and sugar. Hope this helps.
