Post Atkins Answer and Foods

Hello all, i am starting the atkins answer diet and was wondering about foods to eat. IT says to stay away from carbs and have max 20grams a day. In the book that comes with the package it says for breakfast many different combos but all with eggs. I have somewhat high cholestrol and should prob stay away from eggs but all the breakfast examples are with eggs. ANyone know what else you can have? ALso is it alright to eat eggs every day or several times a week? THanks for the help,
RYan

If you are doing the Atkin's diet, you don't have to eat just eggs for breakfast. However, if you like eggs, then I suggest getting egg substitutes or else just eat the whites of the eggs. Just to let you know, eggs are the perfect food, especially if they are boiled.

If you have high cholestrol, this diet probably isn't the best idea. You are eating mainly high fat foods and protein. You can also checkout Atkins.com, they have some cooking ideas and so forth.

As far as breakfast food, you can eat anything such as meat, cheese, nuts, and veggies. You don't have to eat just eggs, they just suggest that since it's a common breakfast food. I would really try eating the egg substitutes or just the whites of the eggs.

Contrary to what fit4life told you, Atkins and other low carb plans are excellent for heart disease and cholesterol control. Dietary fat has little to no effect on your circulatory system, if any it is good if the fats are balanced.

i'm not a fan of atkins because i don't consider it balanced. eliminating complete food groups is bad in my eyes, but for the record, cholestrol is from animal products (meat and dairy). eating protein and high fat does not necessarily mean high cholestrol. for example, eggwhites are 100% protein but don't have any cholestrol (the yolk does). olive oil is 100% fat but does not contain cholestrol since it is not animal based.
