Hungry before lunch

I have something that I have been curious about. Normally I do NOT eat any breakfast & will usually wait until around 2pm before going to lunch with no problems.

If for some reason I am starving when I wake up & eat a couple of waffles or something for breakfast, it is all I can do to wait until 12 or 1230 for lunch. Usually, I will notice myself getting real shakey or something by 11 o clock since I am so hungry.

Why do I get so hungry & shakey when I eat a little something for breakfast but am fine til 2pm if I don't eat breakfast?

Re: Hungry before lunch

That happens with me also. It's kind of like your body shuts down and go a long time before you get hungry BUT, that's not healthy at all.
As you, if I eat something in the am (a piece of toast), I'm starved by 11:00am or so.
Food gets the metabolism going.
Try and eat something in the morning. And then maybe a snack when you start getting hungry, like an apple.
It's much better to graze than to pig out also. Eating a little throughout the day (not chips and candy bars - LOL) will keep your blood sugar even and you'll feel much better.

Re: Hungry before lunch

I am the same way, but I actually find I have a harder time controling my weight and food intake when I start eating a regular breakfast...because I am so hungry by 10:30, I eat, then I eat lunch again, and the cycle repeats all day...I end up eating way more than if I had just not eaten breakfast. It may not be healthy, but skipping breakfast is the only way I have ever been able to lose weight. I also think when you skip breakfast your tummy shrinks a bit (at least mine does) so i tend to get fuller faster at lunch, even if I am ravenous at the beginning.

Hi,
This may have to do with what you're eating. ex: Foods with high sugars will fill you up for a moment but make you hungry again soon afterwards. Try having a healthy snack between meals that are low in calories and saturated fats (stay away from the vending machine... )

Skipping meals is not a smart way to go. For starters your body will store more fat this way and your metabolism will slow down. And if not careful you may be setting yourself up for an eating disorder.
Eat smart...

Re: Hungry before lunch

Like it was said: eating gets your metabolism started. I was like you, skipped breakfast for years. But it's not healthy. For example: people who skip breakfast tend to have higher cholesterol.
